The straightforward version of the legal stuff

Last updated: January 2, 2026

Using Tempo

By using Tempo, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, that's totally fine - just don't use the app. No hard feelings.

What you can do

Tempo is yours to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. It's free, and it's meant to help you understand your listening habits.

  • The license: You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Tempo for yourself.
  • What not to do: Don't copy, reverse engineer, or modify the app - except where open-source licenses or the law say you can. Tempo is source-available, so you can look at the code, just don't republish it as your own.

Your data

Your listening history is yours. Tempo stores it locally on your device by default. You're responsible for backing it up if you want to keep it safe across device changes - though Tempo does offer optional Google Drive backup to make that easier.

For the full picture, check out the Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

Tempo connects to services like Spotify, Apple Music, Last.fm, and Google Drive to enrich your experience. These services have their own terms and privacy policies, and Tempo isn't responsible for them. Your use of those services is between you and them.

No warranties

Tempo is provided "as is." It's a personal project built with care, but there are no guarantees. If something breaks, I'll do my best to fix it - but I can't promise perfection.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the developer and contributors aren't liable for any damages that come from using (or not being able to use) Tempo. It's a free, open-source project - use it at your own discretion.

Changes

These terms might change over time as Tempo evolves. If you keep using Tempo after an update, that means you're okay with the new terms.
